First, the positive--The Seneca is in a great location,we had a very large, clean suite with bedroom, living room, dining table and full kitchen (which we didn't use). Negatives--Thin, skimpy towels and not enough for 2 people. Bathroom was tiny, plastic sink had multiple cracks and water pressure was very low in shower. AC had already been turned off for... more
I planned a girls' trip to Chicago for myself, my 64 year old mother, and my daughter who is 7. I did a lot of research before I decided to book the Seneca. I found that for the money this was the best deal. I was leary at first due to negative reviews that I read on Tripadvisor and to... more
We just returned from Chicago and had a wonderful three-night stay at the Seneca. I have to admit that even though I got a great deal on a king suite ($109/night) and queen suite ($129/night) through a TravelZoo offer, I was a little hesitant about booking at this hotel after reading mixed reviews. Much to our delight, our fears were... more
After reading the reviews about the Seneca hotel and the staff my husband and I were expecting the worst. Thankfully that was not the case for us. Upon our arrival we were greeted by the Doorman and Valet. Both of them were very courteous. We used the hotel valet parking for the convenience. Driving in downtown Chicago is quite an... more
We were in Chicago for two nights. The proximity to Michigan Avenue was paramount in chosing this location. We found the hotel to be charming, reminding us of ones in Europe. Small lobby with helpful staff. Our room was a suite with a kitchen and two full size beds. Clean, well appointed. Breakfast in the Chestnut Street Cafe was very... more
We were in town on business, and couldn't resist the pleasure of Chicago as well, and stayed in a two queen suite. The full kitchen, stove with oven and dishwasher included, was terrific, the dining area and living space comfy, the bedroom and bath more than adequate. There were three ladies with PLENTY of room to share. The location to... more
A friend and I chose this hotel for a weekend getaway from a Travelzoo offer. Judging by the pictures on this website we decided to book. BOY were we wrong! The ENTIRE staff is rude and inconsiderate. Our room was filthy and run down. It looked nothing like the pictures. (see mine) Our airconditioning broke in the middle of the... more
We stayed one night at the Seneca in September 2008. We had paid attention to the deals on the internet and booked signicantly in advance for a $109 per night room rate for a king room. We arrived a little early for check in and our room was not ready so we checked our bags with the bellhop and went... more
We absolutely loved The Seneca! We arrived around 8:00am at Union Station and took a taxi to our hotel (10 mins max and $13 taxi with 2 people, $1 gas surcharge & tip). We arrived at the beautiful hotel and had them hold our luggage while we went out for the day – very friendly and courteous staff! When we... more
