I'd classify this as a 3/4 star hotel as opposed to a 5*, but nevertheless we enjoyed our stay. Location is good as it's close to Central station. We didn't eat there so can't comment on the food. Staff were friendly. Facilities - only experienced the gym and pool which was ok (when we found them) Room - ok, but... more

This hotel is simply the very best hotel in Amsterdam. Its interior is breathtaking, excellent fresh breakfast (with very friendly staff) and you just sense in all details (tiles in the bathroom, original elevators etc) that this hotel is run with loving care. In the same week, I stayed in the Eden Hotel near the Rembrandt Square. Did not sleep... more

Ended up having to pick a hotel at the last minute and immediately came to TripAdvisor.com for advice. The all-inclusive minibar, I have to admit, was a bigggg selling point and the 5-star rating helped as well. We were pleasantly surprised thoughout our stay with how friendly and thorough the hotel staff were. The concierge was amazing in helping us... more

The Grand Amrath is a stunning building that has had no expense spared on it. Silk wallpaper in rooms, luxury bathrooms and very comfortable beds. Staff on the whole were very good - especially concierge who coped well with requests and were very helpful. Things got a little manic at busy breakfasts but overall the customer service was very good... more

Nowhere near a 5 star. Service was poor. Having a cute building isnt enough. Was there for business meeting in Hotel and they obviously dont major in that either. more

It was very difficult to find a room in Amsterdam during the dates we would be in the city. We found a room at this hotel and I have to say I was a little afraid that it would not be fun, in a good location, etc. As a wonderful surprise when it was pointed out to us as we... more

Travelling on business in the busiest week for Amsterdam hotels (International Broadcasting Conference) My co workers and I had to vacate an awful hotel a mere 200 meters from The Grand Amrath. Walking in off the street, I approached the very helpful staff who managed to accommodate my entire party in what proved to be a very pleasant, well run... more

My wife and I stayed in the Amrath over a long weekend on the strength of the recommendations from this website. It was exactly as described, a real treat. The rooms were excellent with the standard of finish, service and attention to detail first class. We had an expresso machine and a free mini-bar, re-stocked every day (without asking), a... more

We’ve just come back from a lovely long weekend in Amsterdam at the Grand Hotel Amrath and we cant wait to go back. Upon arrival we were met by a lovely team of helpful staff. The room was great and the free mini bar a novel idea. My girlfriend loved the automatic curtains, guess what my next DIY project is….The... more

Firstly the hotel itself was in a great building and the room was fantastic and it was pretty central. However, I didn't find the service to be that great considering how much it had cost and although we booked a double room it was two single beds pushed together. However, what really worried me is they took my card for... more
