An absolute disgrace. I wish I had known about this website before booking! Things were bad from the outset. Very awkward access upto the first floor reception. We had to pay for the 2 nights even before getting a key. Then we get the key to a "cleaned" room that look as as though the previous tenants were still in... more

I arrived to find they had taken my booking but had no rooms. They sent me to another disgusting 'hotel' miles away which was completely uninhabitable. The owner was completely unhelpful and I had to find my own accomodation in central Amsterdam at 10.00 pm after a long day of work/travel. The owner refused to refund my credit card and... more

I booked and cancelled this hotel on the same day due to travel problems. I received a nice reply saying "no problems, hope to see you in the future". This Hotel charged me full price for that cancellation 2 months after that nice email!! Do not give your payment details to this Hotel................ more

I have to agree with the many negative comments about this hotel. I didn't mind the steep stairs, even though I had to go down them sideways as i have size 14 feet. Its Amsterdam and its is to be expected. We booked a 'triple room' and felt like sardines. There was no air-conditioning and had to leave the window... more

I have stayed in third world countries, and had better accomodation than this. I won't bore people describing the rooms, as this has been covered in previous reviews, very well I might add. The one incident I would like to mention, involved two of our friends. They came back to the Hotel late afternoon on the second day, to find... more

This was the first place I stayed at when I traveled from America to the Netherlands for the first time. I was glad I secured lodging at this hotel while staying in Amsterdam. Plan ahead, because Amsterdam is a hot-spot for people to come to. Since I traveled in July, vacancy was almost non-existent everywhere I looked. This hotel is... more

The Hotel Ajax has to be every travellers worst nightmare!!! The stairs were straight up, very difficult to manage sober, Impossible with a few beers!! The staff were very unhelpful, rude and one even walked straight into our room at 7 one morning!! The room itself had a disgusting mouldy smell, peeling wallpaper and a shower that I wouldnt wash... more

This was one of the most ugly hotels I have ever been to! The room as well as the bathroom were small and dirty; the view is on a brick wall in 50 cm distance! Breakfast is not a lot (but coffee was fine - to say also something positive). The staff was with one exception not very friendly. All... more
