I have just returned from Monopole Apartments in Amsterdam. HUGE disapointment. The weather was really cold and no heating in the apartment, our kitchen table was a radiator cover with two odd chairs, the view was off another apartment being decorated. Even though the email confirmation stated we would have a view of the canal. The whole place was a... more

Pretty poor hotel in general. The rooms were an ok size and fairly clean but everything in them was shabby and battered. Our bathroom door had some rather odd stains on it. The main problem however is that there is a nightclub downstairs that plays music very loudly until 4am every night. This will keep all but the deepest (or... more

We travelled Europe for 3 months and this was the worst hotel we stayed. The moment we opened the door it smelt, staff unhelpful and had to have a stand up fight just to get clean towels. If it was not for the fact we had paid in full to the Netherland Tourist Info Centre we would have walked out. more

Well.. first of all, the pics of the hotel that are shown by real travellers, are fair enough. The room is very small, although almost clean (I say "almost" because the pillow covers and the blanket smell like somebady has been there before me). The bathroom is fine and clean, but small for big persons (I'm a small person, so... more

A hotel with NO Service, UnPOLITE staff, small, dirty, old rooms, towels with holes in it, a terrible noise all night long because of the disco next door, breakfast was a tablet with plastic bags on it. They wanted cash in advance while checking-in before you were able to see the rooms and to spent 1 night with all that... more

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in April 2007 and despite feeling aprehensive due to the reviews on this website we found the hotel to be clean with efficient and friendly staff in an excellent location just off the Rembrantplein. We got clean towels daily and breakfast in our rooms at the time we requested.... more

A friend and I stayed at Hotel Monopole in July of 2006. The hotel is located on the Amstel and very easy to find. It was about a 15 minute walk from the train station. When we first arrived, we had to buzz the doorbell to be let in, fully expecting to see a face appear behind some sliding peephole... more

My husband and I stayed here over Easter weekend of 2006. I didn't like the stairs, but those kind of stairs are to be expected in the older buildings. We did have a shower and toilet in our room. The room was small, but clean. I found the staff fairly friendly and can see why they ask for payment upfront.... more
