The Il Chiostro staff is great but balancing this with the facilities/amenities, I will definitely explore others for our next visit to Siena. I would rate it a “3” – relative to how I have rated other like facilities in Europe (…well-located converted mansion or monastery, etc.). Posted pictures to help describe further. We stayed here for one night mid week in September 2008. The check-in staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was clean and large. Bright clean bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is definitely unique (converted monastery) and has an excellent location just inside the walls of the city. Il Campo (main square) is about a 10-15 minute walk away. A renovated monastery - the rooms are spacious, charming, and immaculate. Delicious breakfast, friendly staff, lovely courtyard for reading or enjoying a bottle of wine. Although hard to find at first, the location of chiostro del carmine is perfect as it is just at the edge of the city, two min walk (unlike most other four stars) but it faces amazing countryside!!! Chose the hotel on basis of previous reviews. Excellent location within city walls. Walking distance to all the sites. Parked outside city walls, as is free and hotel charged 15 euros a day.
