My husband, niece and I spent two weeks last summer traveling throughout northern Italy. The last part of the trip we concentrated on Tuscany. I had researched the hotel online and had also found a lovely book at the library on small, charming Italian hotels. Alessandro Martelli went out of his way to ensure everything was perfect during our stay.... more

Date: October 8-10, 2008 Reviewer: a retired attorney from Houston, Texas This small hotel lies on a hillside in that exquisitely beautiful area of Tuscany. Allesandro has taken some of his family's property and made it his own, creating a clean, well tended gem. Together with his pretty wife, who was expecting their first child when we were there, they... more

Alessandro, the owner and his wife were really nice to us. beautiful views, the castle is beautiful, pleasent and cozy. hospitality was great, breakfast was decent, the croissant were realy tasty. the rooms are not fancy, but have everything you need for a few nights stay. for a B&B, we felt it was perfect. only a 5 minutes drive from... more

Lovely property that has been beautifully restored. A great base to explore the region. The rooms are lovely and what a treat to open the shutters in the morning and soak up the view. Agree with some other reviews that it would be good if some evenings an evening meal was available but that wouldnt put us off returning here... more

Having previously only stayed at 5 star resort hotels we weren't sure what to expect but we neednt have worried. Our room was lovely and big with gorgeous views over the countryside, we had air con and... more

This is now I think the 10th time we visited Il Casale Del Cotone. Every time we experience a wonderful stay. Everything, the place, Alessandro and the wine are truly Tuscan. What I like every time is the quiete peaceful atmosphere of the Casale. During the day when most of the other visitors are on a trip, you can even... more

Il Casale del Cotone & Rocca degli Olvi is the most fantastic place to get away from it all. Super hosts, fantastic views, lovely pool. Our room was large and exceptionally clean, no air con but large fan also a mini bar with water, wine etc. We have travelled extensively around the world for both business and pleasure and I... more

I booked three nights at this property and couldn't have asked for a more authentic experience! Alessandro (owner/manager) was very timely with all email correspondence and even provided excellent driving directions from Florence. The property is much more in-line with a farm or country house experience, as their is truly no place you would walk too. I was given a... more

From the moment the owner, Alessandro, greeted us on our first day, our stay at Il Casole del Cotone was fantastic. Located just outside of San Gimognano, it is a pretty 40 minute walk into town (though not recommended at night due to poor lighting). Our room was clean and modern although very warm (be warned not all rooms have... more
