It is located in the same block as the US Consular Office, so the street is blocked off for security in two spots, making it very quiet and feeling quite safe (military officers 24/7 with machine guns will do that). Gorgeous B&B with 5 or 6 rooms. We had the 2 standard rooms - the difference between standard and superior appears to be size, and superior have large shuttered windows looking onto street, whereas the standard have windows over door that open onto internal light well only - but this isn't a problem, unless you like to spend a lot... more

Robert and his wife were very nice, and accommodating. We had a small bed, discounted accordingly, and everything was top drawer. It's only a short walk to anything you want to see in Florence, a couple blocks to the river, to a good park and miles of track along the river for running, etc. and, best of all, very quiet! more

Undoubtedly our best stay in Tuscany was in Florence in the B&B hotel Residenza Il Maggio. Very quiet, because it’s near the American ambassy with lots of security, so the road is not accessible for traffic going through. The beds are great and the bathroom is modern and very clean. My husband and I have just returned from four nights at this wonderful B & B in Florence. Our room (No. 3) was very large, as was the ensuite bathroom, and both were spotless. We had a small balcony overlooking the street. The hotel is situated in a very quiet part of town just a block back from the river.... more
