We absolutely LOVED staying here ! This little pensione is quiet respite from the hot teeming streets of Florence. Our host was friendly and helpful, and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Also, the LOCATION was perfect ! You are RIGHT in the center of things, steps form the Duomo and other attractions of Florence. We (a young married... more

I can't say enough good things about this place. For the price, you can't beat it. It is not a 5 star hotel so if you need that go elsewhere and pay dearly for it. It was very clean, and VERY quiet - I couldn't believe how quiet. Especially considering you walk out the door, and about one block down... more

Lots of stairs to climb (54 steps to reception area) but if you're looking for cost-effective accommodations, this is it. Depending on if the room faces the street, you may need ear plugs to block out the street noise. Shared washroom had a "slow" toilet. The location is excellent (1 block away from the Duomo). Reception lady was very attentive. more

We stayed at the Hotel Canada for one night as we were leaving for the airport the next day and it was convenient to the train station. It was our 4th hotel in Italy in 2 weeks and the most expensive and least desirable. . Although our room was quite large and very clean it was older then previous hotes.... more

There are far better hotels for the same price. Pros: 1) Good Location Cons: 1) No lift, 150+ steps to the reception area 2) Rooms above the street, window did not close all the way and the street noise was VERY loud. 3) One toilet for the ENTIRE place. I booked my room 3 months ahead of time w/private shower... more

My husband and I stayed at Pensione Canada for 2 nights in September 06. We had a shared bathroom, which was new, large and very clean. The hotel is an easy walk to the Duomo. We walked everywhere in Florence and didn't find it hard. The room was comfortable. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, ask them where the... more

If you're just looking for a place to sleep, this is fine for the price. In peak season, my friend and I were able to book a room the night before for one night. When we arrived the next day, we decided to stay another night- they were able to give us the only other room available the second night... more

The lady receptionist was the most unfriendly one I have ever met in years of travelling around the world. Her english was poor and yet she complained that it was ME who could not understand her (ok, I should have learnt Italian, but -hey- should one learn all the languages spoken in the places he visits?!). At night I was... more

I saw many people complaining about the noise coming from the street that the rooms were on but I did not expect that it to be that loud, there is no way you can get a sleep of good quality in that. Everything smells like bleach so they do not care about customers' health with those two things. I saw... more

I'm sorry to hear that the first person to review this place had a bad experience - but we loved Pensione Canada. Though not travelling at the same time, we too experienced the good old Italian train strikes - but got there in the end. I would like to say that the lady running Pensione Canada could not have been... more
