As for the hotel itself it was too hot, the rooms were a little small but good for the price and time of year, the bathrooms good. The staff were not very helpful and don't seem to smile at all. We had requested a superior twin room, but were sent to a tiny double room on the fifth floor next to the breakfast room. We asked to be moved and were dismayed at the treatment we received by the reception staff. We were eventually moved to a twin room in the other part of the hotel. Not worth the price. Noisy street outside. Satelite television out of order, only italian channels. Stop in the shower. Great location next to rail station,minutes walk from all the sights of Florence.No problems with booking or staff,in fact the staff booked Uffizi tickets for us so we didnt need to queue.Room was ok with roof terrace, views to the Duomo and good air con. The Diplomat's reception is plain and uninspiring. It is connected to another hotel, the Ambasciatori , which is about 20 metres away. Hence the long corridors. We had a triple room.
