My mother and I stayed at the Nuova Italia for 3 nights while in Florence on vacation. The hotel was very conveniently located only a short distance from the major train station. The hotel staff was very pleasant and spoke great English. Our room was by far the largest we stayed in in all of Europe. The bathroom was also... more
We found this dreadful hotel in Frommer's Guide. Obviously no one from there has seen this place in years. There are lots of stairs, room was totally devoid of any charm or pleasant decor and there were flies in the window. But we really couldn't open the window anyway after discovering the noise from San Lorenzo market carts which were... more
we came to celebrate my 50th Birthday and enjoyed it . Its so clean and tastefullu decorated and the staff wonderful. This was the third time if visiting. You can keep your big unfriendly hotels. This is central and we love it. roll on next year! more
We stayed at the Nuova Italia for three days in March, 2006. The bottom line is that you really can't expect much. While most of the staff is friendly, it is barely worth the money. There is no elevator, so if you have a room on the third floor you had better not have heavy bags; they say is it... more
This modest hotel is well-located in Florence. The rather plain interior is wonderfully embellished with a huge collection of numbered prints (some of really stellar quality) and an eclectic group of museum posters, making the interior both charming and interesting. Beds are very comfortable and its is impeccably clean. Sure the rooms, especially the bathrooms, are small, but you didn't... more
After having spent considerable time in two stars hotels through out Europe, people, let me tell you, this is it. This isn't the land of Holiday Inns. What does two stars in Europe mean? Generally: your own bathroom and clean facilities. People being upset because there isn't a lip in the shower? Get out and travel! This ain't america. That... more
I'm amazed by the other reviews of this hotel. We loved it. Our room was spacious and the bathrooms clean and roomy. The hotel staff couldn't have been nicer. It is nicely located within walking distance of the Uffizi, the train station, the Dome, and one of the large open air markets. We spent three weeks traveling through Europe and... more
The bathroom was so small and the shower area is for smurfs. It's so small that the shower curtain sticks to your body. When you shower, the whole bathroom will get wet because it's a flat floor w/ a drain cordoned off w/ a curtain. Room on the ground floor so it was rather noisy during the day. The room... more
I agree with the other reviewers - Frommers gets this one wrong. Maybe in their early visits this hotel had some charm, but now it's way overpriced for its amenities. It is near the train station in an unremarkable location. The breakfast is very spartan. The staff is not particularly friendly. And the room - very ugly decor, uncomfortable beds,... more
