My husband and I just returned from a four-night stay at the Hotel La Scaletta, and we loved this hotel. It's located a couple blocks from Ponte Vecchio and just a block from Pitti Palace; all of the major sights are within walking distance. One thing we noticed on our stay is that most places in Italy aren't wheelchair friendly.... more

My sisters and I have just returned from a four day visit to Florence. Having searched the internet for a reasonably priced, well located hotel we decided upon La Scaletta. For exploring Florence, we could not have chosen better! Situated only a few footsteps away from the Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace in a quieter area of the city, the... more

When I booked there was only 1 room left with the "high window". Basically, you can't look out from it but you can still get light in. It was fine as we don't generally spend much time in our room anyway. The room was clean and really quiet. Only problem was our double bed was really 2 singles so you... more

We accidentally ended up at this hotel, after the one we had originally booked turned out to be a dump. Thank goodness we had a guide book on Florence, found this hotel under the recommendations, and called them to make reservations for that same day. Though the location was extremely convenient, literally seconds away from Ponte Vecchio, finding it was... more

We really liked this place! It has charm and character, with interesting old furniture and lovely old terracotta tiled floors. Ask for a room at the back, facing the Boboli gardens for " A room with a view". It's true that fresh italian coffee at breakfast would be an improvement, ( see an earlier review) but eating breakfast out on... more

What a great little hotel (pensione) in a fantastic location. Our room was huge and you could hold a party in the bathroom there was that much space. The view off the top of the hotel was aweome and it was really only a 2 minute walk to Ponte Vecchio and another 2 minutes to the Uffizi. The staff were... more

Great spot! Room was big and clean. We had a family of five and the family suite worked perfectly. The people at the hotel were great to work with and made good dinner recommendations. Plus, the convenience of the location was just what we needed. Bryan in Seattle more

We stayed at the La Scaletta for two nights with friends while in Florence on vacation. We did not realize that you have ninety-four steps to climb to the hotel which is located on the third floor of an old plazzao. We dumb Americans were traveling with too much luggage and the elevator is small, so our initial reaction was... more

This is possibly the worst place I've ever stayed in. The tiles on our floor were broken and missing, my husband fell on a slipping tile and almost broke his back. The mattress was hard as cement, and the pillow was worse. I had to roll a towel up and use it instead of a pillow--it was softer, and that's... more

This is a quirky, delightful small hotel located near the Pointe Vecchio. The staff are helpful and informative. Sip a glass of wine on the rooftop of La Scaletta and enjoy the Florence sunset! more
