Not a bad hotel-- its location is a little unusual- down a dirt road that's a little hard to access if you're driving and coming from the wrong direction across the intersection. A little quirky, it is reminisicent of a big old mansion that was converted to a hotel. The staff we interacted with weren't rude, but they weren't overly... more
Last review seems to have been in 2004 so I thought I would send in an update. I write this from my room part way through a five night stay. For the price, an excellent three star hotel, in a quiet location down a leafy drive, far enough from the centre of town to be quiet and unpolluted but close... more
We were pleased with this quiet location outside of Florence. It is a long walk so we preferred to take the public bus that runs in front of the hotel and goes directly into the city. We also took a cab home one night from the city. We had a rental car which we kept parked in the hotel driveway.... more
Very scruffy hotel, in need of desperate renovation before the building falls down. The floor in our room shook when you walked on it. The bed was so uncomfortably we had to put the mattress on the floor to get any sleep, and the mirror in the bathroom doubled as a window!! The remaining furniture in the room looked like... more
A PERFECT place to stay, Villa Betania had all the ammenities of a hotel without the feeling of anonymity. The warmth and hospitality of the Betania staff will not be forgotten. The pleasures of the garden and the scent of jasmine are permanent memories. What a lovely place to sit and chat! I still want to grab that rooster and turn him into coq au vin, though. more
Hotel Villa Betania is not as glamorous as the five star hotel but its friendly atmosphere makes the trip more pleasant. The hotel owner gave good recommendations on the restaurants (reasonable price). However, some local restaurants DO NOT accept credit cards. This hotel has its own reservation website, www.villabetania.it.The advantages for staying at this hotel:--good location quiet and relaxing surroundings 5... more
The hotel was not in top repair and the walk to the city center may be a bit much for some people. But we enjoyed the quiet neighbor, a strong contrast from the congested city. Parking was easy and off the street. The host was great. It was worth the price. We would go there again. more
Villa Betania is a small, charming hotel immediately outside of the historical walls in Florence, in the Porta Romana neighborood. I find it of excellent quality and of very reasonable prices for the area. I stayed there several times, I routinely send there friends and colleagues, and all have been favorably impressed. The young owners are nice and do their... more
