The official website begins, "The modern Sofitel Firenze is located in the heart of the historic town centre." While this snatch of copy is true, the uninitated to "Firenze" may not realize that 90% of Florence's hotels can make the same claim. Beyond it's centrality this property represents both a lost opportunity and a great disappointment. Located in a historic... more

I believe this hotel is above average, however, the hotel is not on par with other Sofitels throughout Europe. When we checked in, we were shown a tiny room that had a view of a brick wall. Needless to say, we requested a change and were given a better room that was large, had a view of the Duomo (if... more

The summary for this hotel can be defined in one word ... convenient. The hotel is conveniently located within a 4 min walk of the train station. The hotel is conveniently located within a 5 min walk of the Duomo which basically anchors the city. The hotel was 8 min walk to a huge variets of restauaunts in any general... more

The location was great - two blocks from the Duomo! Even better two blocks from the train station. The service was very good, although other hotels had a better grasp of English. The bed was great - didn't feel like it was two twins pushed together as in most other hotels. Ultimately the bathroom is what we were most happy... more

This was a great hotel in Florence. The location is within walking distance of the train station and if you take a taxi it isn't too expensive but the one way streets make you go a bit out of the way as opposed to walking. The hotel is only about three blocks from the Baptistry and Duomo - maybe a... more

We stayed at the Sofitel in July ( incredibly hot in Florence) and enjoyed a spacious room, great buffet brerakfast and super front desk service. In particular when my purse was stolen the first day of our trip .(Be very aware when you are eating in the cafe's particulary if you have a table on the outside.....it was gone in... more

We stayed at this hotel in Florence for three nights in July. We were shown to a very small dark room with a view of a brick wall. Also, the air conditioning was not working properly - so we asked to be moved to a different room. The hotel staff were very nice about us changing rooms. It wasn't a... more

I love modern ammenities and comfort. If you also do, this is the best choice in Florence. Believe me. I have tried 3 other horrible hotels. Florence has many bad accomodations. Be on the safe side. more

The Sofitel in Florence was excellent. It was in a great location and it was close to everything we wanted to see. The staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They even recommended a few resturants for us to visit. The room was very nice. It was quite clean and more spacious than I expected. The audio system in the bathroom... more

This hotel has a great location, within easy walking distance to just about everything. The rooms were clean and well maintained, with beautifully appointed and upscale bathrooms. Amazingly, despite being in the middle of the city, the rooms were very quiet. Most important, the staff was gracious, helpful and courteous. We felt so at home each morning as we were... more
