My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Messner in Venice for 2 nights from 10/6/08 – 10/8/08. To sum it up… we got what we paid for. We bought our stay through hotels.com for $168 a night with all fees and taxes. That’s a cheaper hotel in Venice. Be careful most hotels don’t have a private bathroom. This hotel... more

I stayed at the Hotel Messner with my wife and two children (5 and 7). Overall, I think that for the price, you will be hard pressed to find a better place to stay. The hotel is a little difficult to find, but is actually only about five minutes walk or so from the vaporetto stop. We were able to... more

The hotel is easy to find from the Salute vaporetto stop...just follow the directions on the website. I didn't think the hotel looked dated, and I especially didn't think the murano chanderliers were tacky at all. The price was very reasonable, the area quiet but well located close to the Accademia Bridge. Piazza San Marco vaporetto station is just 1... more

Messner is not a particularly stylish hotel, nor is it an example of the opulence and grandeur many tourists may come to Venice in the hope of experiencing. The decor is dated (eg. tacky Murano glass chandeliers), but it is not terrible. Rooms are not luxuriously furnished, but are comfortable. My fiance and I shared a room with a double... more

2*, 120E/nite for two, including breakfast. Stayed here 7/20-7/21. Located in Dorsoduro, Salute stop on Route 1 to St. Mark’s. Very short walk after getting off the water bus. One of the quieter parts of Venice. Small rooms, but air conditioned. This hotel has two parts, with an annex (where prices are a bit lower) in a separate building across... more

We recently stayed at the Messner for one night. Other reviewers & guidebooks have said that the service is great but that was not our experience. We booked a junior suite with two beds over the phone for 150E When we arrived, there was a mix-up and we were shown a small, dingy, dark single room with 1 bed (not... more

We stayed in the Hotel Messner for three nights right around Carnivale, Venice's annual masked festival. While I agree with previous reviewers about the groups of students (we booked the hotel because of my boyfriend's previous stay there as part of a student group, and we also walked in one morning to find the lobby packed with French schoolchildren, who... more

This small hotel is on the quiet side of the Grand Canal near the Salute Church. It's located on a small back canal with charming views. The rooms are typical, small but clean with plenty of storage space. They offer a continental breakfast with a wide array of cereals, breads, cold meats and cheese either indoors in their tiny outdoor... more

The staff at the Messner could not have been more helpful or friendly. When we arrived the room in our original hotel was not available and we were sent here. There are 3 parts to the hotel we saw them all! 2 Star - perfectly aduequate for a 2 star room. Clean, average size, get what you pay for. 3... more

Was I at the same place as the previous reviewers?? We had a junior suite which was roomy, quiet, clean, and romantic. I think the travelers with the complaints may have stayed in the annex rooms which are 1 star, compared to the junior suites which are three star. The hotel is in three parts: main house (I didn't see... more
