I stayed at the Hotel Gritti Palace in 2004 just before the Atens Olympics and I enjoyed the hotel except for the fact that I got stuck in the hotel room bathroom for 2 hours! Venice is beautiful any time of the year, and in September can be glorious. Was just there to check out the architecture biennale, and in the hotel fan into a very famous american fashionista who happened to be staying there as well. but no surprise, Gritti attracts a very posh crowd, international, and yet remains still small, chic, and classic.... more

this is just the best place to stay in venice. The staff did everything to make my self and my little dog feel welcome. The food is expensive but it's worth the experience. It isn't cheap but if your looking for a palace hotel this is the one. more

The Gritti Palace is right on the canal by St Marks Square, so a great location. The rooms are the most spacious, like suites, and filled with lovely antiques, crystal chandeliers, and a beautiful bath. Only complaint was the overpriced food. more
