The last time we stayed at the Gritti Palace was in January 2000 and it was nothing short of opulent and divine. This visit was a different story. Maybe it was due to the recent "Aqua Alta" and the staff were in shock but we were aghast at the drop in the quality of the service in the bar/tea room... more

I and my wife spent 3 nights for a long week-end at Gritti Palace. Our overall experience was very good : - very nice venitian style room under the roof, with partial view of Grand Canal : superb furniture and decoration, very confortable bed - very well located hotel, near San Marco, and very close to Vaporetto station. The terrace... more

I stayed at the Hotel Gritti Palace in 2004 just before the Atens Olympics and I enjoyed the hotel except for the fact that I got stuck in the hotel room bathroom for 2 hours! There was a phone in the bathroom but I was too embarrased to call the front desk and tell them I was stuck! The rooms... more

Venice is beautiful any time of the year, and in September can be glorious. Was just there to check out the architecture biennale, and in the hotel fan into a very famous american fashionista who happened to be staying there as well. but no surprise, Gritti attracts a very posh crowd, international, and yet remains still small, chic, and classic.... more

this is just the best place to stay in venice. The staff did everything to make my self and my little dog feel welcome. The food is expensive but it's worth the experience. It isn't cheap but if your looking for a palace hotel this is the one. more

The Gritti is beautiful, the service is superb and I am always treated with great personal attention. I am always baffled by the reviewers who complain about the rooms, the views and the prices. Clearly, the rooms that face the grand canal are more expensive than the other rooms. If you are willing to pay for a room with a... more

we travelled 1 month in france and Italy. All the places we went to were high end and spectacular. One of my best trips ever, My only disappointment was the Gritti. For that matter my most expensive disappointment. The room was very small, the bathroom a real disappointment. If I'm going to pay 1300 euros a night i expect a... more

We arrived at the Gritti Palace after a lovely stay in Rome at The Hotel Eden and a relaxing train journey. Sadly the Gritti was a real disappointment in comparison. We had a Grand Canal view room, which was the single best thing about our stay. On the whole, the hotel was deeply uninspiring. In particular:- 1 Our complimentary bowl... more

The Gritti Palace is right on the canal by St Marks Square, so a great location. The rooms are the most spacious, like suites, and filled with lovely antiques, crystal chandeliers, and a beautiful bath. Only complaint was the overpriced food. more
