The hotel is in a great location very close to Piazza del Popolo, the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese and the Trevi Fountain. Barberini metro station is also very close. It is in a very safe neighborhood. I also walked from Rome Termini Railway station to Hotel Garda. The room I stayed in was clean and very good size. The breakfast... more

I recently stayed a few night's at the Hotel Garda and found it more than satisfactory for the price. The rooms are admittedly small and not terribly elegant but they are very clean and comfortable and even the little single room had high ceilings and a big window that opened out with a view of the street. The common areas... more

Avoid room 104, it has a view over the stairs and lift shaft with no natural daylight. This resulted in a dull and uninviting room, with no ventilation. Shower tiny and not much water pressure. Other rooms we peeped into were again clean but small and gloomy. Hotel itself difficult to find, basically an anonymous shared entrance, leading into a... more

On arrival, the builiding and lobby looked lovely and even the reception area of the hotel was nicely decorated. The room, however, was not so good feeling cramped and gloomy. The bathroom was appalling - think cracked tiles and the shower was tiny and was just like turning on a tap full blast and standing under it. To add insult... more

Spent a week in Rome in March 2008 with a friend and I must say our trip was successful partly thanks to the wonderful and friendly staff of Garda Hotel. Everybody was very professional and understanding even though there were a few blunders from our part regarding our reservation and paying of the room in the end. Luckily everything got... more

Hotel confirmed one rate in writing and charged me another (higher) price when I went to pay the bill. Said they couldn't do anything about it. Left me feeling pretty bad about it and well taken advantage of by people who seemed so friendly at first... Stay somewhere else. Go out and eat a proper breakfast and skip the Garda's... more

We have just returned from a great 3 days staying at Hotel Garda, which is in a great location for sightseeing with the main sights only a short walk away. The room was very clean and the hotel was well maintained. The entrance is not immediately obvious as the hotel is situated on the top floors of a building on... more

The breakfast consisted of cold croissants and grapefruit juice. The coffee selection was good but I had to have a follow up breakfast after I left. I was not allowed to have a person in my room for a few hours. I had booked a single room and my guest had to pay off the front desk guy off to... more

The best thing about hotel Garda is the location – 30 meters from via Veneto, in a lovely and safe neighbourhood. Transport connections are good (if they can be good in Rome), with metro stations Barberini and Spagna within 10 minutes walking distance and numerous bus stops even closer to the hotel. There is a big GS grocery store near... more

We booked this hotel through EasyJet and chose it for its location, in spite of reading one or two dubious reviews with Trip Advisor. Having read tips about finding the hotel - there is no obvious frontage - we had a very pleasant experience. All the staff on the reception desk were extremely helpful and friendly. Our double room was... more
