This is not a fancy chain but a small privately owned establishment. Rooms are basic but large. Apparently they will be updating rooms in 2008, which is nice since when we visited, the beds weren't the most luxurious. Great rooms for the price and location. We stayed at the Oceanside Hotel in August 2008 for a week. The hotel has an excellent location, close to restaurants on Denman and the walking distance to Stanley park and the beach. I needed an affordable suite in Vancouver and found the Oceanside. The room was not fancy but clean. The front desk staff, couldn't have been more helpful. Great location and great value. The free parking was a bonus. I would have loved to see a few room amenities such as coffee, paper towels, etc. more

Don't be tempted by the ideal location, this place is filthy. From the streetside it appears to be a well presented if older three storey hotel but inside the stale smell, dirty (very) carpets and kitchen areas make the stay unpleasant. Don't get me wrong, I like basic but I will not be back here. - very very poor more

Bring several cleaning supplies. The room was very musty smelling and the walls needed to be cleaned. It was close to everything exciting so I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
