I love old ships and I've been to a lot of Maritime museums. This is the best, I think. For a very reasonable entrance fee you get to tour five different ships, and for just $3 more, you can take a 20 boat ride around San Diego harbor. The chance to tour a Soviet submarine is awesome. It's hard to... more

We read the reviews on Trip Advisor and booked our cruise on the Californian. The Museum is a great place and they even let you walk around the engine area of the boat to see what it took to make the boat run. With the price of the ticket , $31,you get to tour the museum, a submarine and two... more

If you are going to San Deigo with kids and you don't already have your agenda booked with Legoland and the Zoo save your money and give this a shot. The maritime museum is $15 /adult and kids are free. If you book online that same price gets you a boat ride too. I think it is only $5 /person... more

The best exhibit in the Maritime Musuem is the Russian Submarine. Totally awesome. I mean, how often do you see the inside of a Russian Sub? The Star of India was impressive from the outside, but inside it was quite boring. The "pirate ship" used in the movie Master and Commander was cool, but the least authentic of all. But,... more

I was unable to go, but the six kids and three adults (both boys and girls) I was traveling with who went absolutely loved it! It was very entertaining for them and be sure to take the 30 minute boat cruise, it's not much extra. It was reasonably priced and kept everyone interested throughout. Definitely check this out if you... more

The museum is child friendly, full of great exhibits, and has a wonderful collection of old ships and replicas. The Star of India is berthed there, and is one of a kind. The people working at the museum are eager to show you around. It's a part of San Diego that no one should miss. more

We stopped by here on Christmas Day last year and were quite impressed with this collection of ships. There's something about those old sailing ships that facinates an old Mid-Westerner like myself. I was amazed, though, by the total rudeness of the sales clerk at the museum store. The enire time of the sales transaction, from the presenting of my... more

We did not go inside the ships but you can see them all as you walk along the sidewalk. The Star of India is beautiful and the big aircraft carriers are huge (though small compared to a current one.) You can see the aircraft and helicopters on top from the street. I regret not going inside but we were short... more
