Balboa Park is absolutely incredible. There is something here for everyone. Live entertainment, tons of museums, gardens, cafes, artists, gorgeous architecture, walking trails, a dog park, a gigantic zoo, and more. We completely fell in love with Balboa Park. We ended up going back two more times. It is not to be missed if you are traveling to San Diego. more

We were not planning to go here but since the zoo was not open yet (9am) we went to balboa park for some pictures of the kids. It is right behind the San diego zoo so great if you want something to do. My husband is getting into photography so he loved it.. there were arches and carvings on the... more

We visited Balboa Park one evening, and loved it so much we had to go back and spend the next day. The architecture is amazing, and each building is so unique. The statues, fountains and gardens are beautiful. It's a photographer's paradise. We never actually visited any of the museums, but maybe next time. The Spanish Village Art Center was... more

Although we missed the Balboa Park stop on the Old Town Trolley Tour the day before, in retrospect we're happy things worked out the way they did. It afforded us more time to leisurely explore the park the following morning, taking in the Spanish architecture and gorgeous gardens. Take your time here, and soak up the beauty. We recommend visiting... more

What a beautiful place! The architecture, museums, fountains. WOW! Just walking around was amazing! (Tip)The museums are buy one admission, second one half price for the month of Feb 2008. You just have to get to a Macy's in San Diego to pick up the brochure. Great deal!! more

Any time I visit San Diego, spending a day in Balboa Park is a highlight. In addition to the numerous museums and gardens, the Park has a number of very good restaurants (I've enjoyed The Prado and the Waters Cafe). However, I just enjoy going there to enjoy the fascinating architecture, the beautiful grounds, to see street performers plying their... more

I love walking through Balboa Park. There is so much to do. Make sure you take the walking tour available in the visitors center. It's cheap and really gives you the history about Balboa Park. Also, there are neat theme cooking classes and tasting parties. Check out their website. more

Our family spent a day in Balboa Park on a recent trip to San Diego. We enjoyed the beauty of the grounds and the trails. We went to the Science Musem, Aerospace Museum, Timkin Museum, and the International Cottages (it was a Sunday). Our family enjoyed everything. This truly is a must see if you are in San Diego. more

"Free Tuesdays" must have changed a bit according to previous descriptions. Not all museums are free on every Tuesday. On each Tuesday of the month there are 3-4 museums that are designated as free. However, only 1-2 of those museums are free to non-residents. The Timkin museum is free (donation optional, which for 4 of us we contributed) and we... more

Even though we barely made a scratch of seeing everything in the 4 hours we were there, it's still easy to highly recommend this. There is a museum for every interest, and the grounds are all nicely kept up with spacious walkways. Parking seemed to be somewhat difficult, a tip I'd recommend is to arrive during the noon lunch hour... more
