This was an excellent choice for us to attend this luau. Even though it did not have that fire knife dancer that I've read is not Hawaiian or whatever, it was a good show. The servers/attendants were very attentive and polite. The Hawaiian buffet was nice, not great, but nice. But watching the show, having dinner, while the sun was... more
The night previous we had expereienced the WORST dinner cruise known to man...so maybe our expectations were set lower than they could have been, but WOW! We felt so welcome upon arrival. It was like they genuinely were happy to see you. They gave us our little programs (which were SUPERIOR to the Welele Luau at the Westin). They even... more
Arrive early for a chance to see traditional island crafts created as you watch. You will receive a very fresh and beautiful orchid lei, and be served by enthusiastic, cheerful, capable servers. The oceanfront setting is magnificent and the timing of the luau allows for you to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Once the pig has been unearthed from the traditional... more
I'd heard SO many positive reviews for the Old Lahaina Luau (on Trip Advisor and elsewhere) that proclaimed this to be the "best" luau in Maui (some even say "the best luau in all of Hawaii") -- so I guess my expectations were pretty high. But maybe they were a little TOO high... I attended this luau with seven family... more
If this is your first time to Hawaii, you really do need to experience a “good” luau. Don’t be fooled by the $19 luaus that you’ll see advertised on the streets of Lahaina because you truly do get what you pay for. That being said, the Old Lahaina Luau is one of the most expensive luaus for good reason. The... more
Yes... it sounds touristy. But why not... you are in Hawaii! Good things: Activities: It overlooks the ocean which is just a perfect backdrop for the entire evening. When you get there... they have activities where the staff is stationed to teach you about things such as how to eat a coconut, making a lai, etc. They have a live... more
This was the only luau we attended based on the reviews in several sources. True, the parking is very limited, but it was a short walk from the shopping area across the street. The setting was absolutely stunning and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. We chose to sit traditional style which was on cushions close to the stage area. The... more
Ok so the food is so so, but I came here for the show and was not disappointed. The setting is great, the dancers are energetic, the whole show very nicely done. The drinks are crappy, the food is not so bad and there is plenty of it..but the show is what you are here for. more
Three of us traveling together attended the luau 7/08. Reservations well in advance are required. What you don't understand up front is that 400 people attend on a single night. Go early to get a good parking spot and to avoid the long check in line. Mai Tais, water and a nonalcoholic drink are provided as you arrive. You get... more
