If your plans somehow take you to a crossroads with Acadia National Park in Maine as one choice and Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, please choose the latter. There were far fewer people in this park and the views were far more spectacular, in my opinion. The park seems to be extremely well managed, with over 20 well marked trails... more

Highland National Park is a 12 hour drive from our home in Portland Maine & a long drive from almost any location- but it was worth the visit. The scenery was spectacular- much like Maine's beloved Acadia National Park but with many more animals, more expansive mountains and about 10% of the crowds. We only hiked three trails - but... more
