We travelled to Dahsur as part of our guided tour with Rasha. The only sight you can enter is the Red Pyramid. And what a sight. Known as the first true pyramid. Our first visit to any Pyramids in Egypt, this was a truly magical experience. It was about a 45 minute drive out of Cairo and off the beaten path. Giza is great, but I found it to what we expected-bus loads of tourists, cameras & people trying to sell you things. So after Seeing the Sphinx & Cheops in Giza you MUST continue on to Dashur. Visiting this area is not just about the pyramids here but it is like going through a time warp back 100's of years ago. Many areas don't have running water or electricity. The farmers still work their farms by hand with hoes and sickles. Donkeys and buffalo are also used in the field and to pump water to the farm... more

The pyramids at Dashur are not often visited by tourists, but they are a major attraction and well worth your time. Our guide from Egyptian Express gave us a great tour.
